These brownies are absolute chocolate heaven! Not only are they velvety and gooey with their chocolatey-ness on the inside, they are also topped - while they are still freshly hot from the oven - with...
3 tablespoons butter, softened to room temperature
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup confectioners' sugar
Cooking guidelines
Preheat your oven to 350°F/175°C.
Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.
Take a large saucepan and melt your butter over medium or medium-low heat, being careful not to let it brown. Remove the melted butter from the heat.
In a medium sized bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder until well mixed.
In a fresh large bowl, cream together the melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Mix in the dry ingredients you have set aside by hand.
Spread the batter with a spatula into the baking pan that you have prepared.
Place the baking pan in your preheated oven and bake your brownies for about 25 to 30 minutes, but no longer than that. Take your brownies out of the oven and set aside to cool for a few minutes while you prepare your frosting.
Cream together the softened butter, cocoa, honey and vanilla extract. Slowly add the confectioners' sugar and stir everything until you get a thick, smooth frosting. Spoon onto the brownies while they are still warm so that all the tastes come together beautifully.
