Ingredients

  • 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 4 teaspoons taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (optional)

Cooking guidelines

Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.

Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and place the chicken breasts inside. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the chicken breasts, making sure to coat all sides evenly. Finally, pour the salsa over the chicken breasts and spread evenly over the meat with a spoon.

Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake the chicken for 25 to 35 minutes or until the chicken is tender and juicy. You will know it is ready when you pierce the chicken breast in the middle with a knife and it is no longer pink on the inside and its juices run clear.

Take the baking dish out of the oven, sprinkle the chicken evenly with the shredded Cheddar cheese and put the baking dish back into the oven to bake for another 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese melts and turns bubbly.

Add a dollop of sour cream over the top of the chicken if you like and serve immediately.
