When the chilly fall starts knocking on the door, you simply cannot beat the delectable combination of sweet crunchy apples, syrupy sugar and cinnamon. Top it all off with a crisp crumble and you\'ve ...
10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted
Preheat your oven to 350°F/175°C.
Slice your apples and lay them evenly in a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a medium sized bowl, mix together the white sugar, flour and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture over your apples. Splash the water evenly over the entire surface.
Now it is time to make your crumble. Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Mix thoroughly. In a small saucepan, melt your butter over medium or medium low heat, making sure you do not leave it on the heat for too long or else it may brown. Pour the melted butter into the dry ingredients and use your fingers to blend everything together until it forms a crumbly consistency. Do not over-mix. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
Place your apple crumble in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for a while. You can serve it warm or enjoy it once it has cooled completely.
