Wipe your salmon fillets with a paper towel and season them with lemon pepper, garlic powder and salt according to your taste.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, water and vegetable oil until all of the ingredients blend into one another and the sugar dissolves completely. Pour the soy sauce mixture into a resealable plastic bag and place the salmon fillets inside, coating them evenly with the sauce. Seal the bag carefully and place it in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 2 hours. You can leave it to marinate for longer if you want the taste to be stronger.
Preheat your grill to medium heat.
Lightly oil your grill grate. Using tongs, remove the salmon fillets from the plastic bag and place them on the preheated grill. You can discard the rest of the marinade. Grill the salmon fillets for about 6 to 8 minutes on each side, taking care not to overcook the fish. You will know that your fillets are cooked through when the fish flakes easily when pierced with a fork.
